5 Each reader opens the scroll of the law, looks at the place where he will read and recites the invocation, "Bless ye the Lord, who is blessed." The congregation responds, "Blessed is the Lord, who is blessed for ever and ever." He then recites the blessing, "Blessed art Thou, O Lord our God, King of the Universe, Who hast chosen us from all peoples and given us Thy Law. Blessed art Thou, O Lord, Who givest the law." The congregation responds Amen. He then reads his section, till he concludes it, rolls up the scroll, and then recites the blessing, "Blessed art Thou, O Lord our God, King of the Universe, Who hath given us a Law of truth and planted eternal life in our midst, blessed art Thou O Lord, Who giveth the Law."
